Android User Scam

Android users beware!!!

Cybersecurity firm, ESET, reported that the Optimization Battery app for Android can swipe funds from PayPal accounts by stealing login data. Like many downloaded apps, OB asks for permission then during downloading it asks for “Accessibility.” Once granted, it has the ability to capture ID, PW and authentication responses you enter on the device. When a user opens their PayPal app, the captured information is used to create a new transfer, entering a PayPal account for the fund transfer and then approves it.

The entire theft takes only a few seconds and if you have added a credit card as a backup, the loss could be equal to the amount in your bank account plus your remaining credit limit!
Always read reviews and notice the number of downloads for any app you are considering for your mobile devices.
