Social Security reaches almost every family, and at some point, touches the lives of nearly all Americans. Every month, Social Security pays 60 million beneficiaries, which includes 40 million retirees. At Social Security, we’re often asked, “what’s the best age to start receiving retirement benefits?” The answer is that there is no one “best age” for everyone, and ultimately, it’s a personal choice. The most important thing is to make an informed decision. Social Security will conduct a Retirement focused presentation that will help you understand how your benefits are affected based on when you apply and how Social Security fits into your retirement decision. In addition, the speakers will tell you what Social Security online services can help you plan for your retirement and answer questions about Security retirement benefits.

In preparation for the upcoming event, we encourage you bring a copy of your current Social Security Statement. Having the Statement readily available will enhance and personalize this learning opportunity. You can go to www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount to create a personal online my Social Security account.

The link to step-by-step instructions for creating account is located at https://www.ssa.gov/pubs/EN-05-10540.pdf.

All workshops are complimentary and open to the public.
